As acid_kewpie said, there is nothing specific to Red Hat in subversion. Anyway, the Red Hat documentation provides insights into subversion setup and usage: check the Developer Guide and you will find a chapter about Apache SVN. In the last paragraph it provides a link to the official SVN e-book: http://svnbook.red-bean.com/ that is accessible even from the official SVN site: http://subversion.apache.org/.

do you just want to grab something from a SVN repo ?
or
set up a SVN repo tree to keep track of the source code

for GUI tools they work the exact same on windows as linux and Mac osx
the terminal is even the same on windows as in linux ( mostly ,"cmd.exe" is almost useless)

on any Linux install , if svn is installed
Code:
svn --help
--- and ---
man svn
an example:
-- to check out the current Celestia development trunk
-- a program i support
Code:
svn co https://celestia.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/celestia celestia
