SSH to Linux server behind Cisco ASA Firewall is failing occassionally

Please can someone shed light on the reason why SSH to a server that is nated behind firewall will just fail to connect, and after several attempt it will get connected. NOTE, SSH has been tried severally on different networks just to ascertain that its not network related.

Connection failed : connection timed out is the error giving.

My best advice would be to run tcpdump on both systems. Then start your SSH connection and see if both ends are seeing the connection. Now you have a starting point.
