SquirrelMail times out

I've been using SquirrelMail a long time, and it's been such a no-brainer I must be missing something easy here. I clean-installed an F13 system and my browser verifies apache and php work properly. dovecot is running. I can send and receive email using emacs's RMAIL. I installed SquirrelMail with yum, edited its config.php, but when I browse to myserver.com/webmail it always just times out. No errors or access recorded in apache's logs. Nothing in maillog. It just times out with no further information. I don't know what other info to look at to diagnose the problem. Any clues?

Here's more information. I tried loading SquirrelMail from localhost by browsing to 127.0.0.1/webmail. This left the following error in apache's ssl_error_log:

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '../config/config.php' (include_path='./usr/share/pear/:usr/share/php') in /usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/global.php on line 114

Line 114 in that file is where require_once() tries to open SquirrelMail's config.php. The permissions all look ok to me. What's going on here?

OK, I set the permissions on SquirrelMail's config.php to 777 and I was able to get a SquirrelMail login page when browsing to 127.0.0.1. Attempting to log in, I get "Connection dropped by imap server."

in maillog, dovecot reports:

"mail location not set and autodetection failed: Mail storage autodetection failed with home=/home/MyUser"

EDIT: Oh, for god's sake: I created a directory named "mail" in the /home/MyUser and SquirrelMail logs in fine.

But I'm still not able to get the SquirrelMail login page from any machine but localhost.
wtf?
