Question Squirrelmail Alias

I'm having a real tough time with the Squirrel mail documentation.

I'm trying to find out how to do the following:

A user has a user account on my Centos5 machine, no email account.

When an email message comes in for him such as 'xyz@myisp.com' I want to send this email message out to his AOL account which is 'xyz@aol.com'.

This is a fairly common thing for an ISP to do, redirect email messages, but I can't find out how to do it.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

squirrelmail is an imap web client... this is nothing to do with what you're asking for. i think you want an smtp server, like postfix.

postfix aliases file

Code:
cd /etc/postfix/
nano aliases
type your aliases in the following form:
aliases_username: actual_destination_username

This works for me for LOCAL aliases, so I hope it works for you. The other option is to use a .forward file if you have a mailbox system insead of a mbox system.

here is my aliases file:
Code:
bryanjp@boxname:/etc/postfix$ cat aliases
# Added by installer for initial user
root: bryanjp
admin: bryanjp
postmaster: bryanjp
junk: bryanjp
webmaster: bryanjp

Right now I have Dovecot, Postfix and Squirrelmail.

In you example for the alisas file I don't see forwarding url such as xxx@aol.com

I have a user account called sunset. Could I have an entry in the alisas file such as?

sunset: sunset@aol.com
