"Speaker+" in alsamixer screen (attention BW-userx)
Hi,
I just did a new install of linux (antix 17.1) to my Fujitsu T4220. I had a static type sound coming out of my speakers (occasionally), so I muted them and tried an external speaker. No static.
Went back to the internal speaker after a neighbor suggested cleaning the external speaker connection and rechecking whether that had actually caused the problem with the internal speaker.
So far no static.
However, when I launched alsamixer to unmute the internal speaker, I noticed that now there was a second speaker item on the screen, labelled "speaker+". I don't recall ever seeing this before.
Where the "basic" speaker item doesn't respond to changes in the volume, "speaker+" slides up and down and the internal speaker volume shifts with that. (The "basic" speaker just follows the master volume selection.)
I looked on the internet for any mentions of "speaker+" in alsamixer, but the only thing I have seen is a screenshot posted here by BW-userx in a thread about a problem getting sound to work. This was BW-userx's only alsa screen according to his/her message, so I am posting here to find out more about the naming and duplication of speakers in alsa, if possible.
This is NOT a problem at this time - the sound is fine.
Just curious.
Thanks.
