Unhappy Spamassassin doesn't filter

I installed Spamassassin 2.44-11.8.x.rpm and set it up according to the instructions on the kmail-kde web site. I also set up the following two filters: (1.) Match all of the following: size is less than 250000.

If match is made pipe through Spamassassin.
Apply to all incoming email. Do not stop processing there.

(2.) Match any of the following:
Any header contains X -Spam- Status: Yes
Move to folder Spam.

I am still getting the same Spam as I got before I set this up. I have spent 2 months reading mesages ( anything about Spamassassin written on this board) and other sites but Spamassassin doesn't seem to be working for me. spamd starts on boot up - do I have to invoke somethig else?

The OS is Redhat 9 and Kmail is the mail client.

If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate the help.

Go to the spamassassin site. There is a link to a site that can generate a configuration file for you (would post it here but can't get connected to spamassassin right now).
Configure the file that it tags spam in the subject line with XDSCFS or something like that.If you use the default (SPAM) and somebody sends you a message about spam it will be filtered out otherwise.
Then you configure the kmail filter that messages that contain XDSCFS in the subject line are moved to the spam folder.
Worked for me.
