Question Sound striking behavior

I have RH7.2 on an Acer Travelmate 525TX. I am experiencing some
really strinking behavior of the sound.
It is a bit weird to explain:
After installing the 7.2 I run KDE as user and as root: sound perfect.
Then I run gnome or windowmaker: perfect.
I reboot and go directly to WM: no sound, then Gnome: no sound
then KDE: sound
Then reboot again.
Then I tried to see the conf of the sound card, and run sndconfig: no
way to get the sound test. Anyway I left the detected sound card conf.
Again using KDE: fine, (and all windowmanagers or desktops fine)
Reboot again: no way but in KDE.
I have found a workaround: reboot-WindpwMaker->no sound;
launch Kmix-> sound perfect.

I do not have a clue on why this is happening. Any idea? Has anybody heard
about this before?
