Ok, maybe its more a s/w issue:

Most things works great.
I can put a CD into the drive and play sound thanks to finally un-muting with

bash#alsamixer
bash#alsactl start

But, I only hear sound from my CD drive - i.e I plug my headphones into the CD drive as opposed to the line out jack in the onboard sound card.
My full system config is included in sig.
I cannot listen to CD's or ogg files from the jack on the board.
Is there:

-something wrong with the mobo sound / sound jack?
-is it more likely to be software?

Using KDE. Is it a kmix setting or XMMS or something.
I dont know what to change.

Make sure that a cable connects your CD drive to the motherboard. Sometimes connections get loose, also.
