Software stereo mix?
My system has a Realtek ALC889 sound chip, which doesn't appear to have any stereo mix capture (i.e. a means to record the output from your speakers without having to loop a cable between speaker-out and line-in): all that's present in the Capture section is Capture, Capture 1 and Capture 2 (jeez, that's helpful!). There is an Options section with three drop-down boxes to select the input source - but only from a choice of Front mic, Rear mic and Line-in (Full mixer options provided in the attached mixer.txt).
On the software side, I'm running ALSA and Jack (with the Jack PCM plugin - I've attached a copy of .asoundrc), so I wondered if, with the variety of options and plugins available, it was possible to implement a software-side stereo mix (perhaps using aloop?)
