Well guess what, im another noob to the linux world, and i somehow managed though the grace of some great being to get it running..... So, im trying to install my first program... Firefox,,,, it looks easy... lets see,,, i installed it to /opt/firefox.... Here it created a foler that is named firefox-installer.... ok, thats nice.... SO,,,, after its done installer fire fox kicks up, *YAHHH For me* well,,, problem is,,, once i close it,,,, i um,,, cant find it again.... Where is it, and if i ever find it again is thier any way to add it to the application menu under internet (using slackware 10.0 gnome 2.6)... Please help lol
once u find it again: create a menu bar shortcut. its easy... or at least it is in suse. anyways all u have to is go into your control panel and edit your menu. and then point the firefox launch file, and pick a cool icon
KDE Is allot better, in my opinion...I'm sure people would argue my comment though. I say KDE is MUCH More user friendly. The control center is very nice.
programs for them are interchangeable. but they are different GUI KDE (personal preff) works pretty much like windows. where gnome at least reminds me of mac, itake it ur in GNOME so i'll try and figure this out in there and get back to u
If i had the knowledge of how to, i would try a diffrent GU,,, but as poor as my skills are right now, its kinda baby steps, u know,,, my current project is getting my DVD player running
sorry roach, im a newb, when i was installing i figured if i can get some type of visual running, ill be good" now im thinking, maybe a reinstall, and one more shot *shrug* would a login manager be something i may have missed

u could try to see if u have KDE log out of your user account and you chould be able to select different GUI's i have several. but ive never used slack so i dunno. i'll go get into gnome now tho and try to help u
