SMB Client

Hey guys, I am using SMB client to take files from a remote windows server to a linux server. I wabt to take a whole folder in one go, is this possible. The folder contains a lot of sub-directories and would require a lot of effort to use mget on each folder, any suggestions would be great, I am a newish user of the SMB Client so any pointers would be great.

On the Windows client, install WinSCP to copy the files over. It will save you time as a straight copy with Samba is just damn slow, scp is the way to go.

I'm working in linux, comand line. I am trying to get files from a remote windows server to a linux server. The linux server has access to the outside world, not the windows.Hence my need to grab the files via linux server using SMB Client. Thanks for your input though.

You may do better using smbmount rather than smbclient, you can then simply mount the windows share onto your local linux filesystem and use standard linux copy commands to copy the folder.

Code:
smbmount //windows_pc/share /mnt -o username=winuser,password=winpass,workgroup=windomain

HTH

Mad.
