Skype with Ubuntu 11.4

Please point me in the right direction to upload Skype to run under the new Ubuntu 11.04

Apparently I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04 before the final version is/was released, so am unable to install Skype from the Ubuntu 11.04 Partner repository.

Which ever way I seem to download it - it opens and stays on screen for about two or thrre seconds and disappears - I have successfully run Skype for a few years and have a Skype Account.

Please give me a "Newbie" step-by-step solution to download & run Skype with Ubuntu 11.04.

Newbie

Can you post the output of "cat /etc/lsb-release".

Have you tried these steps?
http://www.webupd8.org/2011/03/insta...-1104-via.html

What errors are you getting?

YES! I tried those steps - from that very site - I copied/pasted the codes exactly as directed and I had the same result.

I can open the Skype program - but it stays on screen for about two or three seconds and disappears - before I even have time to log in.

Try running it from the command line - you may get more information as to why it's closing.

the issue is not a ubuntu issue but its due to a skype outage .You will find the workaround on the skype website i am copy pasting the workaround here as well for linux users

Go to the following folder:

/home/YourLinuxUserName/.Skype

Delete the file shared.xml.

Restart Skype.

The Skype folder is a hidden folder - please check Show hidden files in your file browser to view and access it.
