Show messages/logs of init-scripts while changing runlevel

I would like to see messages of each init-script when changing runlevel (i.e. from runlevel 5 to runlevel 4). This would give me certainty, if services would really be started/stopped. No preference, if shown in startup/shutdown-style (with [OK] at the end of the line) or plain output of a manually called init-script (/etc/init.d/...).

Running Debian Wheezy.

What do you mean "while changing run-level"? Are services change their "run-level" while start/stop service? if so you need better understanding about run-levels

When changing the runlevel of my Debian System with "init" command, some init-scripts are called to start or stop services, depending on symlinks in /etc/rc[x].d/, named either S (start) or K (kill).

The init command itself gives no output.

If 'man invoke-rc.d' doesn't give you clues maybe you can edit invoke-rc.d (or whatever SystV init uses on Debian these days) to spit out a more elaborate message?
