Setting global varible

I have to set a varible globally on many workstation.

I beleive i need to "set LC_ALL=EN_US"

This is to fix an error. To read about the fix..

I thought I could place "export LC_ALL=EN_US" in /etc/profile

It doesn't seem to be working.

I thought /etc/profile gets read at every login.

I need it to work in Bash.

It should be read. Are you sure none of the subsequent config files (i.e., .bash_profile, .bashrc) are overriding this setting? What does "locale" show?

It doesn't seem to take the value EN_US.

When I enter "locale"....

LANG=en_US.iso885915
LC_CTYPE="en_US.iso885915"
LC_NUMERIC="en_US.iso885915"
LC_TIME="en_US.iso885915"
LC_COLLATE="en_US.iso885915"
LC_MONETARY="en_US.iso885915"
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.iso885915"
LC_PAPER="en_US.iso885915"
LC_NAME="en_US.iso885915"
LC_ADDRESS="en_US.iso885915"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.iso885915"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.iso885915"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.iso885915"
LC_ALL=

LC_All is empty.
