sendmail config problems

I have just setup sendmail with uw-imap, and ipopd. I can received mail with out any problems from anyone. However when i send mail, it will only be received by hosts that do not look up my dns record. I have a real domain so this should not be a problem but it seems to be. I guess i'm miss configured something. Here is the mail i get back when i try to send something:

The original message was received at Fri, 3 Oct 2003 00:09:35 -0400
from edfinegan@dryrain [127.0.0.1]

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<edfinegan@mac.com>
(reason: 553 5.1.8 <edfinegan@dryrain.dryrain.net>... Domain of sender address
edfinegan@dryrain.dryrain.net does not exist)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
... while talking to smtp-mx.mac.com.:
>>> MAIL From:<edfinegan@dryrain.dryrain.net> SIZE=678
<<< 553 5.1.8 <edfinegan@dryrain.dryrain.net>... Domain of sender address
edfinegan@dryrain.dryrain.net does not exist
501 5.6.0 Data format error

One thing i don't understand is why it is dryrain.dryrain.net shouldn't it be just dryrain.net. The host name of the computer is dryrain, its the only thing the domain points to so it shouldn't be needed.

Can anyone out there help me. I'm a little over my head with all this dns and mail stuff.

Thanks
Ed
