Scribus: Can someone tell me how to put boarders around text boxes, or draw boxes around text boxes. Scribus has the facility to draw lines, and four lines can be drawn to make a box, but this is tedious and difficult to align.
You can use the 'rectangle' facility from the toolbar, or set the line shape and colors in the 'Properties' box (well, I only know the german version and do not know the English names of the UI elements).

Is there a way to permanently change the default fill color of boxes drawn in Scribus, so that the fill color is always 'none' when starting Scribus?
Edit preferences without a doc open. When a doc is open most settings are only applied to the open doc. This has already changed in the dev version of scribus 1.3.0cvs where there are separate prefs for doc and Scribus itself.
Thank you Tsools - that's great. I have been using MS publisher, but getting to like Scribus. Is there a way to make the border of a text file visible?
A feature of MS Publisher which is very useful, is the ability to move an object off the page onto the background, and later move it back, or onto another page - this would be a real asset.

Do you mean the border of a text frame? In the properties palette there's a page for line style. Assign a style for the line that suites you best and then go to the color page of the properties palette and hit the pen icon (marks for line color) and change the color of your line to something else than "None".

This feature is already in the 1.3 branch. It's called Scratch space in the prefs and the size of it is user adjustable.
