Screenshot Movies In Linux?

I just downloaded someones home made screenshot movie showcasing Expose on Mac os X.

I use Dropline on Slackware & was wondering if there are any apps people can recomend that could make a screenshot movies of sorts. Then I could maybe showcase Linux a bit to my friends who seem reluctant to convert.

Movies saved as .gif or mpg would be ideal.

I ran a search and fould this

http://www.linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/...re_movies.html

but was wondering if there was something else - maybe with a frontend and a a one or two click affair?

That just takes screenshots as far as I can tell - I need a short movie - either in gif format or some sort of video file. So for example I could ´film´ an app like the Gimp opening and then doing some file resizing or something etc then saving the file - then end.

Actually never mind - I found one

All that talk of the Gimp made me go to their site. They have demo videos of their software in mpeg4 format made using xvidcap

Gimp video demos here

Xvidcap here
