Screen blacks out sometimes when using Mozilla


My screen blacks out occasionally when I am using Mozilla. I'd post this under hardware if it happened with any other program too, but it hasn't. It seems totally erratic, and I haven't figured out any pattern yet.

1. Does anyone have an idea why?

2. When this happens how can I get to somewhere where I can shut down processes or resolve it? i.e. How can I get into the konsole??? So far the only thing I have been able to do is shut the power off!!!

Below is a log when it happened two times successively (a second time after switching off the power):

try
ctrl+alt+f1
to go to console..
