Hi
i am trying t set up my ubuntu samba server for users to login with out a username and password for a folder but i keep getting errors this is the config for the folder
[global]
; General server settings
netbios name = LON-TI-OFF-01
server string = %h server
workgroup = LON-TI-OFF
announce version = 5.0
socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY SO_KEEPALIVE SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
ok thanks it works without asking for a password but it changes the permissions to nobody and doesnt allow access to the file
for anyone even the creator of the file
Using anonymouse share level security with write access means guest (nobody) access. The user is aliased to the guest user. Check the permissions on the directory you are sharing. The permissions should be the same as the /tmp directory. (e.g. chmod ugo=rwxt <directory>)
Is this in a home or work environment? If it is in a work environment, don't use share level security and don't configure passwordless access.
Check if Ubuntu has the samba-doc package with supplies the books "Samba 3 by Example" and "Samba 3 HOWTO & Reference Guide". Administering a corporate network isn't easy in Linux or Windows. IMHO, passwordless share level security in a corporate environment is dangerous.
its a work enviroment but the folder is for everyone to keep stuff and remove stuff that is how my boss wants it for now
so should i remove the
