I have a samba server on rh 7.3 and for some reason it takes forever for windows xp to do anything with the server (logon, open files etc) with win 2k it flies. Is there something I can do to speed up the samba and xp connection?
Try changing the master browser number to 40 in the /etc/samba/smb.conf file.
Do you have SP1 installed on the XP machine? I get a long delay when executing .exe files from the server after instlling SP1.
