Samba: Access denied from a specific machine
Hello
I have an older PII 300 Mhz running Slackware 9.1 with Samba 3.04. So far Samba has been great since most of my family works with Windows and they needed a place to backup their files. There are 3 computers apart from the Samba server; mine which uses Slackware 10.1/Windows 2000 (for reference, computer A) a Windows XP Pro (B) and another Windows 2000 (C).
The samba server uses the line
passdb backend = tdbsam
so I need to create normal Linux users and then add them to smbpasswd to get samba users. I have created the users without any problems, and have 3 accounts, we'll name them user1, user2 and user3. On computer A and B all users can connect perfectly to the Samba server, sharing files, mapping drives etc. However when I try to connect to the server with any user on computer C I get a Windows dialog box saying "Access denied to //samba/????" when I try to open any of the shared folders for that user.
I have checked everything I know. The log files on the samba server don't show up anything strange that I can recall. There are no issues with firewalls or permissions to the shared folders. What really stumps me is that the other 2 computers can access the samba server without ANY problems and with ANY user. I think the problem lies on computer C and it's Windows 2000, but I cannot really put my finger on it.
If anyone could shed some light on me, or give any suggestions I would really appreciate it.
