Samba


how can i make Samba work w/ my network? What all do i have to dowload and setup?

You should only need the samba package found at www.samba.org and specifically download from this site http://us2.samba.org/samba/download.html

But you might want to check if you already have samba installed already, in which most major distro's like Redhat come with by default.

i do have it installed but how can i make my pronter work w/ windows? Do i have to install some software on win?

Well, you didn't ask this the first time. Details are always welcome to get straight to the point and bypass all the probing questions from others.

I would suggest reading about printing using samba found here in the documentation: http://hr.uoregon.edu/davidrl/samba/printing.html

It should get you started.

As well as the documentation, open /etc/samba/samba.conf (or it might be /etc/samba.conf, depending on your distribution) in a text editor and read the comments. It gives quite a few examples on how to do things, including setting up printers for network access.
