I am not bashing AOL users---I was really parroting what one often hears---namely that AOL users are sometimes in a bit of a comfort zone in which they have come to belive that AOL IS the internet. I know how that can happen---In my computer infancy, I joined AOL and started dabbling in newsgroups. Being appalled at the garbage to info ratio, I of course e-mailed Steve Case (who responded in those days). I don't remember his answer, but he certainly did not stop to explain that AOL was just porting into Usenet. (Which, of course, has a high garbage to info ratio....)

The fact is that many use AOL for the same reason that they use Windows---they want the convenience and the warm motherly feeling. Linux nuts like me tend to be more out in the cold sometimes......

For any users who do user AOL (I'm included) here is a top notch post on a site www(add dot here)dslreports.com/forum/remark,6332885 (sorry, not made 5 posts yet. Once I have I'll try to remember to come back and edit for ease of use) which shows you how to set up your connection without having to run the AOL software. If you need help with it, just ask. I managed to get it running last week and these past 7 days have been heaven.
