running emacs in su mode wont open x window

in su, i try to run emacs, and i get this error... how can i get it tow ork?

root@atlantis_mobile:/home/atlantis# emacs test
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

emacs: Cannot connect to X server :0.0.
Check the DISPLAY environment variable or use `-d'.
Also use the `xhost' program to verify that it is set to permit
connections from your machine.

This problem was addressed in another BBS (justlinux.com) in the Software category. Go to www.justlinux.com/forum, click on the Search button at the top of the screen, and enter the search words 'connection refused'. At the bottom of the screen, there's a dropdown you can use to select the category Software to search. Then click on the Perform Search button. Scroll down to the thread that starts with 'Xlib: connection refused'.

so the first part in the forum told me to do this

Quote:
root@yourhost:~>cd /root/ (in case you weren't there)
root@yourhost:~>xauth -f /home/user/.Xauthority extract ./xcookie :0.0
(if the above command complains that :0.0 isn't found, try it again with :0 or 0:0, most likely :0.0 will work though)
root@yourhost~>xauth merge ./xcookie

and it dint work, it couldnt find :0.0 :0 0:0 any of those

but the xhost +localhost worked fine... how can i get that do run from the beginning, so i dont have to enter it every time??? im running slackware-current
