Running aRTs with ALSA


hi members

i have Redat 9 and using ALSA because o soundcard problem 9 but in KDE arts sound sever is not working. i usually use GNOME and sound is running fine there through OSS emulation in ALSA.

KDE is giving the following messages when logging in

Sound server informational message:

Error while initializing the sound driver:

device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such device)
The sound server will continue, using the null output
device.

and then

Sound server informational message:

sound server suspended

if i try to run Noatun in KDE following 4 messages
appear while in Debug mode

Sound server warning message:
MCOP ObjectManager:
can't find implementation for Arts::GSLPlayObject.

Sound server warning message:
MCOP ObjectManager:
Could not load extension libartsgslplayobject.la.

Sound server warning message:

loading extension from
'/usr/lib/libartsgslplayobject.la' failed:
file not found

Sound server warning message:

unix_connect: can't connect to server
(unix:/tmp/mcop-root/localhost_localdomain-0ea9-3fb7042f)

Try this:

chmod a+rw /dev/dsp*

Do the same same with /dev/mix* /dev/seq* /dev/mid*

i had alredy done that after installing ALSA
not working
problem seems to enabling ALSA support for aRTs
