Running 8-bit program in overlay.
Hello,
I have a program that only works in Pseudo 8-bit color and I'd like to use overlay so I can run it without switching virtual terminals. I've been going through the forums, but a search brings up everyone who's ever posted their XF86config file. Most of the pages that do discuss overlay deal with the "VideoOverlay" option and TV. I can't find anything on running programs using the "Overlay" and "CIOverlay"
I've added the following lines to my XF86config file
In the "Device" section I added
Option "Overlay" "8,24"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
In the "Screen" section I have
Identifier "Screen 1"
Device "nvidia"
Monitor "sw1600"
Option "Overlay" "on"
Option "CIOverlay" "on"
DefaultDepth 24
Subsection "Display"
Depth 8
Modes "1600x1024"
Visual "PseudoColor"
ViewPort 0 0
EndSubsection
Subsection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1600x1024"
Visual "TrueColor"
ViewPort 0 0
EndSubsection
When I look at my Xfree log file I see the following line
"(WW) NVIDIA(0): OpenGL overlays are only available on Quadro4 cards"
I've never seen anything that indicates that overlay is only for quatros and I thought I'd turned this off in the XF86config file.
I am using a NVidia GeForce2 on Gentoo, but I'm also trying to get this going in RedHat 7.3 with a GeForce3. Any advice or links to anything suggestive is greatly appreciated, Thanks.
