RPMs: Interrelated dependencies

I'm having some trouble updating several packages whose dependencies are inter-connected. I hope someone can offer advice. (gcc & cpp)

Quote:
# rpm -Uvc gcc-3.3.2-1.i686.rpm
warning: gcc-3.3.2-1.i686.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID e01260f1
error: Failed dependencies:
cpp = 3.3.2 is needed by gcc-3.3.2-1
Quote:
# rpm -Uvch cpp-3.3.2-1.i686.rpm
warning: cpp-3.3.2-1.i686.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID e01260f1
error: Failed dependencies:
cpp = 3.2.2-5 is needed by (installed) gcc-3.2.2-5
Quote:
# rpm -ev gcc
error: Failed dependencies:
gcc >= 2.96-98 is needed by (installed) kernel-source-2.4.20-19.9
Quote:
# rpm -ev cpp
error: Failed dependencies:
cpp = 3.2.2-5 is needed by (installed) gcc-3.2.2-5
/usr/bin/cpp is needed by (installed) XFree86-4.3.0-2.90.43
(The last I included just for the sake of completeness)

It's possible the problem could be cleared up by just uinstalling the kernel source; is that sensible? I don't know that I necessarily need the source, unless I'm missing something.

Help?

"I'm having some trouble updating several packages whose dependencies are inter-connected."

You can get around this problem by using --nodeps.

rpm --nodeps -Uvc gcc-3.3.2-1.i686.rpm

rpm --nodeps -Uvch cpp-3.3.2-1.i686.rpm

See:
man rpm
