RPM Issue's

Hi All,

I am trying to remove and re-install a broken Mysql on my Fedora Core 3 machine. Unfortunately, I can't remove MySQL, when I issue rpm -e mysql-server I get the following:

error reading information on service mysqld: No such file or directory
error: %preun(mysql-server-3.23.58-16.FC3.1.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

If I try to reinstall with Yum I get:

[root@pandora bin]# yum install mysql-server

updates-released 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00

base : ################################################## 2622/2622
updates-re: ################################################## 865/865

Nothing to do

Does anyone know what file it's talking about and how I can get it removed and re-installed?

First, are you sure you issued rpm -e as root?

If you did run RPM as root, then can you post the output of whereis mysqld

Niiiiiiice.
My good deed for the day is done.
A refrigerator groaning with the weight of cooled beer beckons.
Cheers!
