rollback packages
Hello,
I manage a Linux server and was needing to know if there's any simple way to roll back packages.
I'm also somewhat of a novice so I never do things without any sure way of rolling back.
Please refrain from judging me but this is a Fedora 9 machine. I would be happy to upgrade but it isn't my decision to make. It's a strictly internal machine anyway.
It looks like someone had compiled and installed PHP 5.2.9-2 from source at some point before I ever started working here. I found a repository that has PHP 5.3.8 that I would like to install. However, if it doesn't work with what we need, I need to go back to 5.2.9-2.
I checked the PHP dependencies and there are a long list of them. I'm afraid that if I install the new PHP version then uninstall it, it will also remove that long list of other packages.
If I compile and install PHP 5.2.9-2 from source, will it automatically overwrite the other PHP install?
