Hi,
I'm completly new to linux, so please bare with me
At work I'm using a type of RHEL server distro, a bit customized for my company. We need some solution to rollback updates on it if necessary.
I googled the problem a bit, and saw there is rpm --rollback which sounds like exactly what I need. Problem is, on my system rpm doesn't recognize this rollback option. RPM version 4.8.0. Some website mentioned it redhat removed it in it's distro to make users use up2date. On my system up2date command is not recognized at all, and I don't see it available in repos.
Yum seems to work fine. It can even undo package installation with it's dependencies. However, it always fails to undo package update. If I understand correctly its because it doesn't have the older version of the package, but I don't know how to update and keep backup of the old package.
Any hints how to solve this?
I was thinking maybe I could install rpm from somewhere else, a version that has rollback working. Not sure where to find a suitable package tho. Or somehow install up2date.
Any and all help much appreciated.
