rh9 - autologin as root - but failed

i use redhat 9

i configured rh9 to autologin within 30 seconds as root into gnome, but it told me "cannot login as system administrator here" or something like that

what's more, i cannot login when i input root and its password

what to do to restore my configuration to login normally by input root and its password?

thx
