I have been trying to remotely connect to another computer on my network; both computers are running Ubuntu 8.04 and i've already installed VNCviewer on both systems and configured the remote computer correctly, but when i type " vncviewer lab-attack:0 " nothing happens it just goes to the next line with a underscore looking thing and after awhile it states that the connection was timed out.
So i need to install VNCserver on remote not VNCviewer, and could i do this by typing this in console " apt-get install vncserver " ?
Or search through syaptic package manager?
I installed vncserver, i'm not sure how to start it or configure. The only thing I have configured is the remote desktop connection under system >preferences>Remote desktop. I have also heard some rumors about having problems with VNCserver and the AMD64 processor. I wish i had more info to give but all i get in the terminal is the cursor drops to the next line and after a few minutes it says server is timed out.
