Remapping keyboard layouts for one-had use with Dvorak as model

I have been sueig the Dvorak left hand layout for several years due to arthritis in my right hand. Using lists of most frequently used letters from the Internet, it's not hard tofollow Dvorak's lead for the US left hand layout for the first 26 letters; the location of any beyond that is not critical. I used to pe familiar with mapping, but the change to Rules several years ago confuses me. Formerly. I could just change the definition by key location (A1, etc.) ' but I don't know which file to modify.

The files will be in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols (or perhaps /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/): there's us and pc. The codes haven't changed: it's still things like AD01 for Q and BKSL for backslash.
