reinstalling grub

I have a laptop with FC2 and Windows XP. I resently had to re-install windows and it wrote over grub. when I go to install it agian with grub-install i get this:

/dev/hda does not have any corresponding BOIS drive.

I have no idea how to fix this. All of my grub.conf info is correct and it worked before I re-installed windows. please help me

FC should have a rescue mode which I assume you are using?

if not knoppix cd can be used.

I prefer the terminal way using a root command and then a setup command from this

you will notice that this technique does not use hda but hd0 which may solve your problem in case your drive is not master on first controller?
