I installed FireFox 0.8 and found that it wouldn't load the realplayer plugin, even though I used the RealPlayer installation as well as copied the library files manually to /opt/firefox/plugins (for good measure, I already had them in ~/.phoenix/plugins and
/usr/lib/Mozilla-1.4/plugins). When I type "about
lugins" in the address bar, RealPlayer does not show up, yet the other plugins do.
When loading FireFox, the following error message is displayed:
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library
/opt/firefox/plugins/rpnp.so [/opt/firefox/plugins/rpnp.so: undefined
symbol: __pure_virtual]
This problem doesn't occur in FireBird 0.7. In fact, I have switched back to FireBird because RealPlayer works and I need that feature. It was easy to switch back; I simply removed .phoenix then copied .phoenixFIREBIRD to .phoenix.
On another (quick) note: another quirk of FireFox is that when you click in the address bar, it no longer highlights the text that's already there...like it does in
FireBird 0.7
Any suggestions...
TIA...
