Question Before Rolling My Own Kernel

I want to take another shot at rolling my own kernel. Can I just remove every compiled option and module that has nothing to do with my system before compiling? Will this make a more efficient kernel?

I may make it a little more efficient. Sometimes it is easier to leave the stuff in if you are not sure. Definetly remove drivers that you know you don't need. In make menuconfig you can choose help for every option, it will give you an idea if you need it or not.

YES! I actually did it! I stripped down the new 2.6.5 kernel and compiled it; installed it and rebooted. It's working great.

Thanks. And ALSA is working now. I spent days trying to fix it and with my new kernel it works fine.

Have a good one,
Ted.
