How does one go about setting up an app to startup at bootup on a Mepis installation? I have tried: 'update-rc.d ez-ipupdate defaults' but get an error to the effect that the program is already setup. However I do not see the app running in ps. I did configure it to run as a daemon.
I looked up some info on the net and it seems this will work. I am going to give it a shot tonight. I had no idea how to use cron. I just remember from back in my programing days that it allows one to automate commands. Thanks for your help. I will post my commands and results tonight.
I gave up on ez-ipupdate since it seems to be lacking in current support or documentation. I installed ddclient instead, which comes with a setup wizard. Now my dynamic dns seems to be working. Except I cannot even ping my public ip or domain name. But it did update the dns server at least.
