proftpd ipv6 problem

I am running Debian Unstable and recently upgraded proftpd to v1.3. Now it won't start. When I try to start it from the command line I get:
Code:
- IPv6 getaddrinfo 'localhost.localdomain' error: Name or service not known
localhost.localdomain - fatal: Socket operation on non-socket
When Googling for this I found a lot of info about ipv6 being possibly a problem with proftpd. Can anybody help please?

I don't know if you have found the solution for this or not but I was having the exact same problem aftering a apt-get dist-upgrade. I fixed it by adding this line to the end of my /etc/hosts file:

::ffff:127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain

It worked for me.
