Proftpd and files outside /home

Hi guys. I want to set up an ftp server, and I have a user chupftp for this. I also have 3 mount points of my second HD /hdb1,/hdb2,/hdb3. These are owned by my normal user chup. I want to be able to download from the /hdb1 etc with my chupftp user. I tried symlinking the directories in chupftp home dir, and even mount them there, but each time I try to download something or go deeper into directories I get an error "550 File not found". Can anyone please help me?
//edit: I'm using proftpd btw
//edit: FIXED, mounted using --rbind
