Problems with startx in fedora 4

I am using fedora core 4 distro I had the system installed and working propperly until when i was trying to install mplayer and its accoidated libraries. I downloaded the xine lib source code and tried compling it but got an error saying that a spesfic path file could not be loaded as it might not be installed of not linked with the path Veriable so i exported the path as it showed me to do an was able to compile and install but xine would not work when i try running it..

Anyhow when i repooted my pc i ended up in terminal mode and cannot start X as i get the following error
Code:
xauth: error while loading shared libraries libXmun.so.1: canot open shared obkect file no souch file or directory
I tried reinstalling xorg from the cdrom i have but does not work either as it says it conflict with the current one on system.

any ideas?

Are you sure of the name? I cannot find such a file on my system (OK its Debian but xorg should be xorg.

Have you looked at /var/log/xorg.0.log? You should be able to get more information from that.

Suggestions: Uninstall the xine libs and/or uninstall xorg completely and then reinstall it.
