I'm having a problem with Realplayer 10 usage, as the player wants to connect to the internet after I install it, and it tries to connect to "h.t.tp.:././.realplayer.net". However, after a few seconds it tells me that it didn't connect, and that it was connecting through port 80. Help is appreciated.
And why does the player want to connect to the internet? Test it by playing some real media files from sites such as news.bbc.co.uk and if they work fine, then there is nothing wrong with your realplayer.
Proxy server? I've no idea.
But, I'll instead try to install it by means of the .bin file.
When I try to run the "chmod a+x ....." command, it tells me that the file I'm looking for doesn't exist! But it does, and I'm SURE that the name matches. Any help?
If you don't know what a proxy server is then you are probably not using one. When you download the *bin file, just use bash completion to enter the right file name. For example entering
Code:
chmod +x Real[TAB KEY]
will list all files that contain Real at the beginning. If its just one file then the whole name is entered by bash.
You need to do that from the directory that you downloaded realplayer into. For example if you downloaded realplayer into /home/username/downloads, then you would need to cd into /home/username/downloads and then do chmod +x and run the installation.
