problems with pppsetup


i am trying to set up my slackware system with a dialup modem using pppsetup but im not sure how my ISP authenticates my requests, i use the "script" option but every time i try to ppp-go it gives me a script error. how can i get surfing?

i have a generic modem and it is on the second pci slot, which means it will be after the COMS(thats what it says anyway) right? the modem seems fine. my ISP uses MD5 CHAP is that the same as just CHAP? or MS-CHAP if so which one?....i think i almost have it though
