Problems with GTK

I tried to install GTK and .configure went okay but at the make stage it failed :-

Code:
..//usr/local/glib-2.4.1/gobject/glib-genmarshal --prefix=gdk_pixbuf_marshal ./gdk-pixbuf-marshal.list --header >> xgen-gmh \ && (cmp -s xgen-gmh gdk-pixbuf-marshal.h || cp xgen-gmh gdk-pixbuf-marshal.h) \ && rm -f xgen-gmh xgen-gmh~ \ && echo timestamp > stamp-gdk-pixbuf-marshal.h /bin/sh: line 1: ..//usr/local/glib-2.4.1/gobject/glib-genmarshal: No such file or directory make[2]: *** [stamp-gdk-pixbuf-marshal.h] Error 127 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/gtk+-2.3.2/gdk-pixbuf' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/gtk+-2.3.2' make: *** [all] Error 2 213-162-121-23:/usr/local/gtk

Any ideas ??? This is gtk+-2.3.2

I don't know about the error message but I think Gtk is like the kernel, even numbers are the stable series and odd numbers are the unstable development series. gtk-2.3 was unstable, gtk-2.4.1 is the current stable series, why don't you try with that? http://www.gtk.org/

I get the same error or similar.
I think this is the relevant bit :-

f test "gtk+" = "glib"; then \
if test -r ".././mkinstalldirs"; then \
.././mkinstalldirs /usr/local/share/glib-2.0/gettext/po; \
else \
/bin/sh ../mkinstalldirs /usr/local/share/glib-2.0/gettext/po; \
fi; \
/usr/bin/install -c -m 644 ./Makefile.in.in \
/usr/local/share/glib-2.0/gettext/po/Makefile.in.in; \
else \
: ; \
fi

I have had the same problem. You have to remove glib-2.0-uninstalled.pc from your pkgconfig directory. Try ./configure. If it doesn't work, copy glib-2.0.pc with this name ( glib-2.0-uninstalled.pc ) in pkgconfig. Try make. If you pass this problem but have others , try the same with gthread-2.0-uninstalled.pc.
I know you posted this long time ago, but I had the same problem, looked for help and I have found your post. I have solved in this way, so if this can help to someone, it would be a fine post.

Good Luck
