OK I've done searches and haven't come across my problem so if someone else has asked this point me to the thread.
I am running Debian Lenny. I have k3b installed and all software necessary to play dvd's. I have a couple that I own that are a little scratched. i am hoping to make copies so my masters can be stashed before they become unreadable. I am able to start K3B fine. It recognizes the dvds. However when it is ready to read the dvd it lists the project is 7.7 gigs. My problem is that my dvd's only hold 4.4 gigs. My question is Am I using the wrong type of dvd's? (is there one specifically for movies? Or is there a setting in k3b I'm missing?
OK, I looked online. So I just need to get 8gig dvd's? This is my first time attempting this. Bear with me. I used K3B and created the image. I'm sitting here with a 7.7 gig iso. So the 8 gig dvd's will work?
Distribution: Ubuntu Linux 16.04, Debian 10, LineageOS 14.1

Rep:
Most movie dvds are larger than blank dvds, and need to be shrunk to fit unto a blank dvd. k3b won't do this. The program k9copy is what you need, which is available from the multimedia repositories.

Reason: changed program names to lower-case letters, added link

I haven't used K3B in a while, so I'm not sure if it will burn double layer DVDs (pretty likely it will though). Yes, you need to buy double layer DVDs if you want to archive your DVDs with the same resolution as the originals.
