Problems configuring 2.6.11.7 kernel
I'm having a couple of problems configuring my kernel since I've upgraded...
First of all, I'm running Debian 3.0 Woody using GRUB as a bootloader.
The first problem is with configuring the boot screen to have the little Tux logo and nice small fonts at startup. I have configured the kernel according to instructions that I found on numerous sites, recompiled and installed many times, and still nothing seems to change whatsoever. I really have no idea why this is, is there any output I could post to help figure out where the problem lies? GRUB *is* loading the correct kernel image, because I've directed it manually using the command line interface.
The second problem is with configuring my soundcard. It is an onboard VIA chipset card which is supported in the kernel. I have compiled the kernel with support for this soundcard, yet it doesn't seem to compile the necessary modules when I use the 'make modules' command. I need the via82cxxx_audio.o module, but the only instance of that file on my hard drive is the one for the old 2.4 kernel. Why is this happening (or rather not happening)?
Can anyone help, or am I being too vague?
