Problem with SPAMC/SpamAssassin
Hi,
I am still a newbie with Linux so I may be missing something simple here. I've been all over the place, including a couple of forums, looking for solutions and haven't found any.
I have the same problem with both SA 3.0.1 and 3.0.2. I am running Core 3.
After installing SA I am able to successfully run spamassassin from the command line on the 2 test files. The output seems to be as expected. However, when I try to use SPAMC from the command line to test it, it just sits there, no output at all. I expected it should produce similar output, is this correct?
I am starting SPAMD with the following options:
-d -i -D -L -m 10 -r /var/run/spamd.pid
I turned on -D to see what it's doing when started, etc. I had set it up to listen on all IPs as I want to use SPAMD on this server to check messages from my IMail server on Windows 2000 using SPAMC32. I am able to get some output from SPAMC32 when testing it. If that helps, it is:
Output:
SPAMC32: Max file size 32000
SPAMC32: CHECK option selected
SPAMC32: Current weight -1
SPAMC32: Skip-if weight -1
SPAMC32: SPAMD IP 169.204.52.18
SPAMC32: SPAMD port 783
SPAMC32: High threshold -1
SPAMC32: Low threshold -1
SPAMC32: Timeout 10
SPAMC32: Filename C:\Mail-SpamAssassin-3.0.2\sample\sample-spam.txt
SPAMC32: Loading C:\Mail-SpamAssassin-3.0.2\sample\sample-spam.txt
Debug info in console:
SPAMC32: Message Length = 825
SPAMC32: Connecting to 169.204.52.18:783
SPAMC: Connected to :783
SPAMC: Socket Closed
SPAMC32: Retrying connection to 169.204.52.18:783
SPAMC: Connected to :783
SPAMC32: Sending Data to SpamD...
SPAMC32: SENT 60 REMAINING 0
SPAMC32: Send Complete
SPAMC32: Message Data not sent to SpamD!
If there is a permission issue of some sort, that might make sense here, but I didn't think any special permissions were required on the Linux/SPAMD side if it's allowing all IPs. Also, I am starting SPAMD as root and running SPAMC as root on the Linux box.
Here is what shows when SPAMD starts:
trying to connect to syslog/unix...
no error connecting to syslog/unix
logging enabled:
facility: mail
socket: unix
output: syslog
creating INET socket:
Listen: 128
LocalAddr: 0.0.0.0
LocalPort: 783
Proto: 6
ReuseAddr: 1
Type: 1
debug: SpamAssassin version 3.0.2
debug: Score set 0 chosen
debug: Storable module v2.13 found
and sits there.
Any ideas? I'll be happy to provide more info if needed.
Thanks,
Geoff
