problem with gnome desktop

Hi everybody,
Before one week my icons(application icons) on desktop are vanished.But when i logged in as user ,i am getting all my icons.I suspect that it may be file corruption in gnome. It din't do any harm on my application.All works fine .Only thing is my desktop missing some icons.Any suspician thoughts on this will be more appreciated.Please help me.

Any solutions to make it clear.

GConf-editor might help.

Using Gnome in Fedora Core 6:

System Tools >> Configuration Editor >> Apps >> Nautilus >> Preferences >> show_desktop

True = draw desktop icons
False = do not drawn desktop icons

This may depend on how you log in. Root and users all have different desktops. If you created icons on you user desktop, they won't be there when you log in as root (or the other way round).
