Question Problem w/ xine

Hi.

I have trouble using xine after I upgraded my graphics card and XFree86. The latter is a minor one (from 4.2.0 to 4.2.1, I believe), so the most likely culprit is the new graphics card. It's an nVidia GeForceFX card. X Window itself works fine with the driver I downloaded from nVidia's web site, but the screen on xine looks messed up now (colours not showing up correctly, to be more exact). Has anyone had problems using xine with GeForce video cards? Should I recompile the xine modules?

TIA.

Hmm... I upgraded to an FX aswell but I did not experience any problems. Did you compile Xine yourself or did it come with your distro?

Thanks for the reply. I compiled xine myself. The version that came with RH 7.3 didn't work. It was working very well until the video card upgrade. I'll fiddle with it some more.

Yeah, check your config file, then recompile xine. That *should* be a quick fix. I normally wouldn't recommend doing that, but seeing as how xine isn't actually a large program, it might be easier than tracking down the whole problem.

That's what I'm wondering, too. I recompiled xine, but it didn't fix the problem. Now, I only had to modify my XF86Config-4 in order to get my X Window to work correctly with the new nVidia driver. But if xine does use XF86Config, instead of XF86Config-4, I will have to fix that. Do you happen to know the answer?

I may end up doing that, though it would really be the last resort. Xine was working very well for me before, so I hope I can get it to work again.

I do have mplayer, too, but I didn't realise it played DVDs, too. Or does it?
