Problem Using Online SUSE Update

I sucessfully installed SUSE Professional 9.1. I installed all the software offered, a big package. As my 9.1 software is several years old, I then used the YAST Online Update. I selected all the updates. The updates were sucessfully downloaded and installed. However, after updating, some YAST functions no longer would start. For example, the YAST Online Update option would not start in the KDE desktop mode. I started YAST in terminal mode, (command: /sbin/yast2 online_update) and got a message "Error while loading shared library:/usr/lib/liby2pm.so.2:undefined symbol:_ZN6VendorClERKs". So the download/install apparently removes some library software needed by YAST. Anyone know what to do? My thought is to download one update at a time until I find out which one is messing up YAST. That may take weeks.

Thanks for the suggestion. I decided to reinstall and then back up all files prior to the update. (Backing up should be SOP anyhow and it was thoughtless of me not to do so.) Then I can use the backup as source if some problems show up after update.

After all the updates finished to install by YOU, try running under root:
Code:
ldconfig
or reboot the machine to see if that doesn't solve the problem.

Hey there -
I had the same problem, I'm running SuSE 9.1, did the updates, and got that same error.
I search on yahoo and found this
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/suse/up...-0.5.i586.html
I downloaded this version, and rpm -i --replaceall
installed it, and I'm good to go.
