problem installing mimedefang

I'm trying to install mimedefang on a raq550 running strongbolt2 (Centos 4.8) but I get a problem right at the start. I downloaded and untar'd mimedefang-2.67.tar.gz. The install instructions say:
4) Configure, build and install the MIMEDefang software:
./configure
make
make install

but at the first step I get:

[root@home mimedefang-2.67]# ./configure
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl.exe... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See `config.log' for more details.
Press any key to continue...

In the mimedfang-2.67 folder there's no ./configure file, I don't know
if mimedefang is compatible with my OS. I also tried yum install mimedefang but it didn't recognise any such package.
Can anyone advise?

yum install gcc-c++ glibc-kernheaders

.. will install the gcc compiler, including files
needed to use the c and c++ compiler.

mimedefang is available from the 'rpmforge.repo'
https://rpmrepo.org/RPMforge/Using
→ yum install mimedefang

It is a "dag.wieers" package ..
http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/mimedefang/
.....
